Malaekahana State Recreation Area (Kahuku Section)

The Friends of Malaekahana rent rustic cabins along the beach at Malaekahana Bay on O‘ahu‘s northeast shore. Enjoy the peace -- there are no phones or televisions. Rates vary depending on size of cabin. They also offer camping for a fee.

Camping

O‘ahu parks serve a diverse and densely populated urban community quite different from our neighbor island parks.  Therefore special rules and procedures apply to O‘ahu camping apply.

Camping is offered at four O‘ahu parks. All opportunities are for car camping with simple developed campsites.  

Ahupua‘a o Kahana State Park and Malaekahana State Recreation Area offer beach camping along the windward (northeast) coast of the island.

Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area provides a mountain setting in the uplands above Honolulu. 

Sand Island State Recreation Area offers shoreline camping very close to the urban core of Honolulu, catering to local weekend campers.

Rates for all O‘ahu sites: $5.00 per night per campsite.
