Wailoa River State Recreation Area



Location: Parking at end of Pi'ilani Street in downtown Hilo; visitor center access road off Pauahi Street.

Hours: Daily During Daylight Hours
Entrance Fee: None



Description: Pleasure walking, quiet relaxation, informal games and events, picnicking, and boat fishing are provided for in this landscaped park set around Wailoa River. Boat ramp provided. Fishing restrictions. Information services and cultural displays at Wailoa Center which is accessible through Piopio street.

Services: Restrooms, visitor center, picnic tables, trash cans, drinking water.

Special Tips: 11/07 - Renovations to the park comfort station will begin on November 14, 2007. Comfort station will be closed during construction and six portable toilets will be provided. The park and pavilions will be open during construction, which is estimated to be completed in February 2008.
